Family Adventure Time

Sometimes you just need a day to just get out. Last week on Wednesday was that day! My kids have a short day thanks to their new Wellness Wednesday. They get out early so they have a break from being on a computer for majority of the day. Teachers also get a day to decompress as well. I think its awesome, and wish they had done this way sooner across the board! This year has been so hard all around so its nice to see they are giving a rest day to the kids and teachers.

I was in need of a bit of an adventure and the girls needed to get out and do some walking or just exercise in general. With all the snow, ice, and rain we've gotten they've been trapped inside. It was time to venture out!

One of our favorite go to spots is the Hamptom/ Newport News area. Its not too far and one of Richard's favorite Korean places, Bob Bob's is located there.

I'm one to jump up and say, let's just get in the car and go. No plan, nothing! Just a random, let's go. Pack up the car, grab the kids scooters, helmets, etc. and let's ride!! Sometimes the most random memories are the best ones.

I'm huge on family. My biggest priority is family and spending time with them. I grew up in a family of 6. One of the best memories I have is of us traveling. Also meals. I remember sitting around the dinner table during meals and even though sure it can be a pain sitting with your family it was also nice coming together at the same time. Now that I'm older with my own family. It is something I reflect on. I also have many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. I can say I have a pretty big family. I do regret I didn't stay in touch or closely in touch with many as I should or should be. If you are reading this I do apologize. I suck at keeping in touch. Its one of my biggest weaknesses!

Family time is so important to me so I always try to get in as much family/adventure time as possible. Trying to look up interesting places to go, or new sites to see, or just simply going for a drive and seeing where we might end up. The kids might dread the car rides now, but I hope when they are older they can look back at the memories and the cool experiences they had.

While they ate dinner I looked for parks around the area and came across a few cool looking ones. We decided on Sandy Bottom Nature Park (sounds like something out of SpongeBob). It was surrounded by a lake. If you are noticing a pattern, I love water! Beaches, lakes, ponds, rivers, streams, waterfalls, etc. I LOVE water. I have always had a love for water!!!

I also love the mountains! When I pass this is why I've chosen to be cremated and have my remains released between both. Because I want to be free in water and high land. Free just sounds so absolutely incredible!! You can give me a memorial anywhere you please, but just allow me to be free!!

Off to the Sandy Park. We weren't there for long. As always our timing was off. We got there about 15 minutes prior to the park closing. But I got some pictures in and the girls got to ride their scooters and run. They probably enjoyed throwing rocks into the pond a lot more entertaining then anything else that evening.

I just enjoyed being with my family the most. Its the best part if the entire adventure! Plus of course seeing how happy the girls are. I mean just look at those smiles!! Seriously can't tell me those aren't two happy kids. Love these two more then they'll ever truly know.

Sometimes we all just need a break. Drop the normal routine, jump in the car and go for an adventure. Life doesn't have to be limitless, boring and lack fun. Make your own fun, drive around town. It doesn't have to be something far away or cost anything. If you don't have a car go for a walk, and see what cool things you'll find a long the way!!

Fighting to breathe another day 💜

Hi, thanks for stopping by!

Hi, my name is Rebecca. First I am so glad you found my blog, so welcome. I am a mom of two and an avid creator. I love embroidery, t-shirt making, and learning how to make new things in my spare time. I’ve been writing ever since I could remember as it’s my preferred method of communication. I created this blog to write out different period of my life. In doing so I hope to inspire, and encourage others to keep going. As isolating as life may get, you are never a lone.

Let the posts
